December 2024 Newsletter
Warm and beautiful greetings to all men and women of the ALA; may your
sled be fast and your memories last!
This is the wrap-up letter for 2024 & I hope you remembered more than I
did this year! Looking for jolly ‘ol St, Nicholas to bring me a set of new brain
cells when he flies over ~ I’d prefer that instead of the extra 10 pounds he
dropped on me last year!
By now, I am hoping each of the Units has done something to remember
any veterans who were at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7 in 1941, when we lost
over 2,300 servicemen. Never forget to acknowledge and thank the service
men and women. We have no surviving veterans locally, and I believe the
last one from Montana passed away in March of this year, unless records
are inaccurate. Our local paper is running a story on it this week.
This month is also the US National Guard Birthday, it was founded in
1636! That’s 388 years ago, impressive!
December 14 th is National Wreaths Across America. Can you share what
your Unit did?
Another day is the Official End of WWll (1946); during your day, stop and
say a prayer for the many blessings that came as a result of the end of that
war.
It is my hope that you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and were able to
share time with family.
Now, we are counting down the days, the calendars are marked with
concerts and programs and festivals and social gatherings… just don’t
forget the real meaning of Christmas…for we know this wouldn’t be
possible without the Reason for the Season.
And it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t ask what you can or have done for our
military this month. I have soooo many ideas and not near enough time.
Our next project with the Juniors will be creating the end of the
remembrances for the veterans who left us in 2024. This year I decided we
will also remember the Auxiliary (both VFWA & ALA) who passed away. A
good number of them have done so much for the success of the Auxiliary
that I feel they should be recognized as well. I am always open to
suggestions & ideas!
Enjoy the blessed season ahead of us, pass out those hugs like no other!
Your sharing one may be the only one someone you encounter receives.
Blessings, as always! Kari Hould, President
